Dr. Shirley Willihnganz assumed the post of Provost in May 2004 after having served in an acting capacity for two years. She came to UofL in 1985 as a faculty member in the College of Arts and Sciences’ Department of Communication. As Provost, she has been committed to enhancing the experience, education and opportunities for undergraduate students. She has established programs to improve students’ critical thinking skills and to transfer those skills to the workplace; expanded and emphasized the university’s honors program; created a program to enhance faculty teaching and student learning; and fostered an environment of diversity and inclusiveness that empowers all to achieve their highest potential.
