Encouraging Our Students to be More
There is a beautiful freedom that comes with the power of an education. Confidence instilled from a college degree can empower individuals to do amazing things. At UofL, we are preparing all students – including graduate scholars – to become specialists in a knowledge economy. Moreover, we are dedicated to providing access to a high-quality education in an effort to develop a populace of great leaders and citizens who will advance our collective goals.
Building a Covenant for Success
To promote equitable access to college, especially for first-generation college students from traditionally neglected communities, UofL’s Cardinal Covenant scholarship program provides full scholarships to Kentucky’s most economically disadvantaged students – families living at or below 150% of the federal poverty level. More than 400 Cardinal Covenant students are currently enrolled in the program. The program has also extended the University’s commitment to make study-abroad opportunities available to all students, regardless of family income.
Making Great Strides
At UofL, we are producing 40% more graduates than at the beginning of the higher education reform – 1,734 in 1998 and 2,248 in 2009.
