Generating Employment

UofL’s partnership with Signature HealthCARE – a highly successful long-term care provider – is the latest in a long list of innovative approaches the University has developed to solve some of our community’s most pressing problems. UofL facilitated a partnership between Signature HealthCARE and the Commonwealth to create the International Center for Long-Term Care Innovation. As a result, Signature HealthCARE moved its corporate headquarters to Louisville, bringing with it 120 jobs.

Now, scholars from UofL’s Kent School of Social Work, the Speed School of Engineering and the College of Business are forming a think tank with Signature experts to study and create better methods for providing care for our aging population. The project will offer tremendous product development potential for Signature HealthCARE and internship and employment opportunities for UofL researchers and students.

Raising Higher Education to New Heights

Perhaps the University’s largest and most enduring relationship is with UPS, the worldwide package delivery company. To meet the unique and demanding staffing needs of UPS Louisville Worldport, as well as to provide financial assistance to those who otherwise couldn’t afford college, Metropolitan College was created. During the past 10 years, more than 10,000 students have participated in this unique program, helping to build a brighter future for themselves, UPS, the city and the University.
